Freestone State School is part of a thriving country community situated in the Darling Downs SW. It is 12 km North of Warwick. The community is made up of cropping and dairy farms, lifestyle blocks and residential properties. The school opened on August 1st 1870 and is set on 6 acres of land. The majority of the students travel by bus from the surrounding properties or from Warwick.
Enrolments are consistently at or above 26 students. The prep enrolments over the next few years are predicted to vary between 4-5 students. We have two composite, multi-age classes of similar size and based on enrolment predictions, we should maintain two full time teachers.
Special needs students are integrated into the mainstream classes and are provided with additional support.
Our school sets high expectations for all our students and we take pride in our excellent behaviour. All students are supported to uphold our school values or STARS (Strive, Teamwork, Attitude, Respect, Safety) to model our school rules and values of safety, respect, being prepared and having a go.
We have a number of students from larger schools and the parents are delighted with the individual support and attention their child receives and the leadership opportunities the older students are given.
