Mission statement
Freestone State School endeavours to implement a curriculum that engages and challenges students. It is our mission as teachers to encourage and support students to grow and mature into confident, responsible and active life-long learners. We believe strong foundations in literacy and numeracy are essential for successful learners.
We believe that students need to be taught how to engage in learning and working as part of a group or as individuals. Social and emotional wellbeing is as important as academic achievement. We allow students opportunities to engage with staff to identify issues that they are concerned about and work out how they can be resolved. We strive to acknowledge our individuality and learn how to compromise and work together to create a learning environment where individuals are valued and feel safe.
Our values and beliefs
As a school community we value:
- A calm school environment where students learn tolerance and respect for self and others.
- A structural learning environment that is organised, motivates, encourages learning and allows the student to feel more confident.
- Educational programs that are based on the needs of the individual student.
- Being part of the community, participating in community events and representing our school with pride.
